Happy Lunar New Year!

Children in Perth
Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Lunar New Year! This is a significant event for billions of Chinese people around the world. The story goes when an ancient monster long time ago known as "Nian" which means "The Year" in Chinese often attacked and killed many villagers in China. Nobody could stop the hideous beast but to just run away fearing their lives.
Then one day, an ancient wise sage appeared to the villagers and was told that "Nian" was about to attack again. The wise sage came from the deep forests in China and he thought he might want to test and defeat the beast to save the lives of many. So, true to the warning, "Nian" attacked one night.. This time, the villagers have the wise sage with them, who immediately jumped to action. He rode his horse and fought with the beast. Fortunately, he was able to trick the beast into his forest where he was stronger there and eventually defeated "Nian".
The wise sage came back to the villagers and told them that "Nian" has been defeated and will not trouble the villagers again. But, he warned that during every lunar new year, the villagers must put up red banners and lanterns on their houses. They must also light firecrackers and perform lion dances. These, he said, would frighten the beast away and will therefore not attack them. The wise sage found out about this after defeating "Nian".
Where is "Nian" today? It was said that the beast still remained in the deep forest under the guard of the wise sage. But sometimes, the beast do escape....

Samuel at the playground...

Children in Perth
My dear Samuel enjoyed himself thoroughly at a local playground. There were nobody around and he had the entire playgound to himself. Unlike Singapore, Perth is not very densely populated and there are still many areas that are yet to be developed. But the scenery is awesome...

Super long bridge to the ocean floor...wow

Children in Perth
This is the very long jetty found at Busselton. It measures some three kilometres from the beach and leads to a marine research lab that is built into the ocean floor. Its three storeys deep and we stood right at the bottom of the ocean. The jetty looks quite scary because there isn't safety railing on one side of it and the wind speed was pretty strong! More pictures of the ocean floor to come!

Daddy and Sandra..

That's me and my dearest daughter in a park while we stopped over for sightseeing. We were on our way down to Mandura, a city that's about a hundred kilometres south of Perth city. The scenery was so beautiful and we saw many wild seagulls having a great time frolicking in the vicinity.
This picture was taken by Samuel and he was really good at it..

Sandra on her first day in Perth..

Children in Perth
It was the first day of our tour in Perth, Australia. And our first breakfast in a pie bakery known as 'Miami Bakehouse'. This shop is reputed to be one of the best australian pie bakeries in western australia. So we went over to give it a try. And its really yummiee...my children, especially my daughter has a strong sense of taste and would reject food if they are according to her 'not niceeee'. I guess the pie she ate passed her quality assurance test as she finished one whole pie (about 500g of meat and pastry). Wow...

Children in Perth
Dear friends, finally, I got a chance to upload at least one picture of my perth trip last december. This is my favourite picture of my two little angels holding hands as I took the shot. We were going back from the cottage restaurant after a hefty lunch, and they were standing just outside the entrance next to a flowery bush.

They are my angels and I really love them to the core...Enjoy this pic! More to follow!
